About a hundred years ago, when the aeroplane was invented, it was called an aeroplane. 00:00:12
Wilbur and Orville Wright were bicycle builders in Dayton, Ohio. 00:00:16
Bicycles were considered high-tech back then. 00:00:20
They decided to build a flying machine. 00:00:23
They studied mathematics and engineering, built a wind tunnel and tested about 200 different wind designs 00:00:25
and used a lot of bicycle parts to construct the aeroplane called the Flyer. 00:00:31
On December 17, 1903, Wilbur Wright piloted the longest flight by a powered aircraft. 00:00:36
He stayed in the air for 59 seconds at Kill Devil Hills near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. 00:00:43
