Who are you? If I ask you this question, you might answer telling me the kind of 00:00:00
things you like, what you do, or what your physical aspect looks like. Now, this is 00:00:06
what we call your personal identity, those features that make you unique, that 00:00:12
make you different from everybody else. Now, your personal identity distinguishes 00:00:18
you from all the other people, but is it something you can choose? In part, it is, 00:00:24
because you decide what you do, you change your habits, and you make your 00:00:32
personality with time, but in part, it is something that you cannot change. You 00:00:39
cannot choose your physical aspect or the features of your face. Those are 00:00:46
things you were born with, so personality, that is, your way of being, has two parts. 00:00:52
One of them is called temperament. The other part is called character. 00:01:00
Temperament is genetic. It is based on biology. It is coded in your genes, in 00:01:06
your DNA, and you have it since your birth, so you cannot change it. For 00:01:12
example, the basic aspect of your body or the color of your eyes are part of 00:01:18
these genetic features. Now, character is quite different. Character is acquired. 00:01:24
You learn it with time. You can change it. You can change it if you modify your 00:01:31
habits. That's the kind of things you regularly do, so it is quite important to 00:01:37
think what kind of person you want to become in order to change your habits, 00:01:42
because that's the part of your personality that you can change. 00:01:47
