The European Union's TV Information service Europe by Satellite (EbS) provides TV and radio stations with EU related pictures and sound in up to 22 or more languages. The programming consists of a mix of live events, stock shots and finished programmes on EU subjects produced by various EU Institutions and Directorates as well as other broadcasters.
The EU has its very own TV service, and it's called Europe by Satellite. For more than
00:00:00
ten years, broadcasters have used its free pictures of European Union events as part
00:00:12
of their impartial reports and programs on life in the Union.
00:00:18
Managed by the Commission in partnership with the other principal institutions, EBS broadcasts
00:00:24
daily the very latest video of key European events to a vast satellite reception area,
00:00:29
now including the eastern seaboard of the U.S. and all of Latin America. And through
00:00:35
the Internet, the service can be accessed throughout the world.
00:00:42
Statistics consistently show EBS to be a favorite source for Europe's media professionals. They
00:00:49
take and record its fast, broadcast-quality pictures for use as a major ingredient in
00:00:55
their news and current affairs reporting. Commission press conferences, European councils,
00:01:00
plenary sessions of the European press. EBS takes these major and influential events and
00:01:07
transmits them live. And, thanks to the interpreters in all 23 languages of the European Union.
00:01:13
More than any other broadcaster in the world. In addition, Europe by Satellite offers TV
00:01:21
program makers exclusive illustration for their European stories.
00:01:27
Copyright-cleared historical background footage, attractive up-to-the-minute stock shop material,
00:01:34
and lively biopics of leading EU personalities.
00:01:40
EBS also travels with the major players from the Council, the Commission, and the Parliament.
00:01:47
In the Middle East, in Africa, and has its cameras at wherever the EU is involved in
00:01:55
major negotiations. In Russia, or in the United States.
00:02:01
Its choice of stock shop themes echoed the big concerns that the EU shares with the world.
00:02:09
The environment, and how to protect it. Climate change, and how to manage it. Supplies of
00:02:15
energy, and how to safeguard it. The EBS partners plan their weekly coverage.
00:02:21
The team arrange the logistics wherever and whenever the story requires. And then, bringing
00:02:29
in its exclusive picture coverage from all over the world by satellite. EBS swiftly prepares
00:02:35
and redistributes new images to waiting broadcasters and newsrooms.
00:02:41
EBS, covering the whole range of European events for the world's broadcasters.
