It's the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, nature's TV show. 00:00:15
They're mostly seen in the northern and southern extremes of the Earth, someplace like Alaska. 00:00:19
The solar wind brings charged particles from the sun, 00:00:25
which strike gases in the Earth's atmosphere, causing the gases to glow in different colors. 00:00:28
I've never seen anything like that. 00:00:32
Well, in a way you have. 00:00:34
The color TV screen you're looking at right now glows in bright colors 00:00:36
when a charged particle touches the chemicals inside. 00:00:40
So the Northern Lights are kind of like nature's TV show in the sky. 00:00:44
