In 1807, Napoleon Bonaparte, the Emperor of France, decided to occupy Portugal, while 00:00:03
But the king of Spain, Carlos IV, allowed him to go across Spain. 00:00:29
On their way to Portugal, the French troops invaded some Spanish cities. 00:00:36
1808, the French troops are in Spain. 00:00:52
Carlos IV is in the palace of Aranjuez, the population is going to have a riot. 00:00:55
This is called the motín of Aranjuez. 00:01:06
The population is going to force Carlos IV to abdicate. 00:01:13
His son Fernando VII is going to be the new king. 00:01:20
But soon after, Napoleon is going to force Fernando VII to abdicate so he could proclaim 00:01:24
his brother, José Bonaparte. 00:01:32
The population will call him Pepe Botella. 00:01:35
