The impact of AIDS on children and young people is enormous.
00:00:05
Globally, 2.3 million children under 15 are living with HIV.
00:00:11
More than 16 million children under 18 have lost one or both parents.
00:00:18
And every day, more than 4,000 young people aged between 15 and 24 become infected with HIV.
00:00:23
But now, key partnerships are forming to help stop the spread of HIV.
00:00:34
For this year's ICC Cricket World Cup, the International Cricket Council has teamed up with UNAIDS,
00:00:39
UNICEF and the Caribbean Broadcast Media Partnership to highlight the situation of children and young people
00:00:45
living with and affected by AIDS.
00:00:52
With this focus on AIDS, the Cricket World Cup and its stars will be hitting a new and
00:00:56
significant boundary in the response to AIDS.
00:01:02
Unite for Children, Unite Against AIDS.
00:01:05
Through high-profile activities around cricket's biggest event, the ICC will support the Unite
00:01:07
for Children, Unite Against AIDS campaign, launched at the United Nations in 2005 by
00:01:13
UNICEF, UNAIDS and many other partners.
00:01:19
The Caribbean Broadcast Media Partnership have also launched LIVAP, the first media-led
00:01:23
multi-platform campaign on HIV-AIDS here in the Caribbean, the second most affected region
00:01:28
after Sub-Saharan Africa.
00:01:34
As the top teams of the world do battle over the next seven weeks, they will also be united
00:01:37
in inspiring cricket fans to join them in fighting HIV and AIDS.
